Ricardo Ramos Inkera - a different future for vanilla begins in Chocó

Inkera places Colombian vanilla at the centre of the composition. Ricardo Ramos uses Vanilla planifolia harvested in the Chocó region and surrounds it with green, spicy, floral, balsamic, mineral and woody materials. Viche and Pipilongo establish a direct connection with Colombia’s Pacific region and give the fragrance a strong sense of place.

Inkera begins in Chocó

Ricardo Ramos presents Inkera as the first perfume created with Colombian vanilla. The name means “vanilla” in the language of the Indigenous Emberá communities. The Vanilla planifolia used in the composition comes from Chocó, and the project continues a subject Ramos presented at the Barcelona Perfumery Congress in 2025, where he discussed Colombia as a new centre of vanilla production.

Chocó defines the geographical framework of Inkera. Colombian vanilla forms the core of the composition. Viche and Pipilongo extend the fragrance into the cultural and botanical landscape of the Pacific region.

Viche brings greenery, cane sweetness and mineral tones

Viche is a traditional artisanal spirit associated with communities along Colombia’s Pacific coast and made from fermented juice of green sugarcane. Historically, it was also used as a medicinal tonic for stomach ailments and snake bites. In Inkera it appears as a liqueur accord with green, jungle-like nuances, cane-honey sweetness and subtle mineral and marine facets.

Bitter orange, spearmint and cinnamon leaf shape the opening around the Viche accord. Citrus, herbal freshness and spice establish the first stage of the fragrance. These materials prepare the transition into the vanilla-centred heart.

Pipilongo shapes the spicy character of the heart

Pipilongo, or Piper tuberculatum, is a long pepper from Colombia’s Pacific region. Its profile includes sparkling nuances reminiscent of petitgrain, woody depth and vivid spicy warmth. In Inkera it sits beside Colombian vanilla and gives the heart a clear aromatic and spicy structure.

Turkish rose and orange blossom build the floral dimension of the heart. The cannabis accord continues the green character introduced in the opening. Vanilla holds the centre of the composition as floral, herbal and spicy materials develop around it.

The base brings balsams, woods and mineral facets

Tuscan iris introduces a powdery texture. Tolu balsam develops the resinous character of the composition. Caledonian sandalwood contributes a smooth woody tone, Atlas cedar adds dry structure, and mineral and musk accords complete the base.

Vanilla continues through the base inside a woody and balsamic framework. Resin, wood, mineral facets and musk shape the final stage of the fragrance and give the composition depth and structure.

From Barcelona to Inkera

Inkera continues a subject Ricardo Ramos presented during the Barcelona Perfumery Congress in 2025. His presentation focused on Colombia as a new centre of vanilla production. In 2026 that research became part of a finished fragrance centred on Colombian vanilla from Chocó.

Chocó enters the perfume map

Inkera gives Colombian vanilla a precise origin, a cultural context and a contemporary perfumery voice. Chocó becomes part of the fragrance itself, carried through the material, the story of its cultivation and the references drawn from the Pacific region.

This gives Inkera real significance within the current vanilla landscape. The fragrance introduces a material with its own provenance and connects that provenance directly with composition. Chocó shapes the way this vanilla is understood, smelled and remembered.
